Presentation of the ENS
Our History
The Ecole Normale Supérieure d'Abidjan is a higher education institution created by Decree No. 64-40 of 09 January 1964, establishing a École Normale Supérieure.
Creation of the ENS by two conventions: between the State of Côte d'Ivoire and the United Nations Special Fund (UNFS), and between Côte d'Ivoire and the European Economic Community (EEC).
The ENS is located in the municipality of Cocody, opposite the university city "red city", at the current location of the Directorate of Pedagogy and Continuing Education (DPFC).
Transfer of the ENS to its current site in the perimeter of the University of Cocody and placement under the administrative and technical supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education.
Our Training
ENS training is both theoretical and practical, spanning two years to prepare future players in national education.
First year
Strengthening disciplinary and pedagogical theoretical knowledge. Acquisition of the basic knowledge necessary to carry out the trade.
Second year
Practical training in a position of responsibility in the conditions for the exercise of the future professions (education, supervision, management).
Development
Construction of two substations in Bouaké and San-Pedro to meet the growing demand for training of trainers and managerial staff.
Objectives and Mission
ENS actively contributes to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG #4: "Ensuring access for all to quality education".
Promote access to inclusive and equitable education for all.
Education is a priority of the National Development Programme 2021-2025.
Quality education has a positive impact on health, economy and peace.
Recent international rankings motivate us to revitalize the Ivorian education system.
